By day, I’m a software engineer at Google in the Bay Area. By night and weekend, I’m a husband and a father to two daughters who also double as my life coaches, specializing in teaching me humility & patience.
For most of my life, I did what most of the Tamilians do: I knew of my culture without really knowing about it. Tamil was the language of my childhood, but Tamil literature? Why read that when I can read Ian McEwan, Salman Rushdie & Richard Russo.
Then in November 2022, I met writer Jeyamohan. He made me realize I’d spent years living adjacent to one of the world’s richest literary traditions without ever exploring it. It was embarrassing. So, this blog is my tiny attempt to fix that, and to bring others along for the ride. Here, I plan to publish translations of Tamil essays and short stories, along with reviews of Tamil works. As the tagline says: Tamil Thought, English Voice.
I also run a Tamil monthly book club in the Bay Area where we discuss (and at times politely argue) short stories & novels.
